Textbook publications include

MOSBY’S Dental Drug Reference - collaborated with Dr. Tom Gage, Professor, Texas A&M - Baylor College of Dentistry, preparing a chairside dental drug reference for dental professionals.  This text was replaced with

Dental Drug Handbook with Clinical Implications, coauthored with Geza Terezhalmy, DDS, MA, Head, Oral Medicine Dept., UTHSC-San Antonio, School of Dentistry.  This reference text published in May 2006 and the 2^nd edition is in progress.   

 In 2004 coauthored a clinical reference with Joann Gurenlian, RDH, PhD for use during the medical history review entitled “The Health History: Clinical Implications and Emergency Prevention in Dental Settings”, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, published  October  2004 and the 2^nd edition is in progress. 

 Basic Pharmacology with Dental Hygiene Applications, a text for dental hygiene students, coauthored with Dr. Geza Terezhalmy, publication expected in 2008.

Chapters in textbooks

Mrs. Pickett contributed a chapter on Oral Pathology for a dental assisting textbook published in 1995 by Mosby. 

She has coauthored a chapter on Pharmacology for a National Board review text.

She contributed information for the medical history chapter in CLINICAL PRACTICE OF THE DENTAL HYGIENIST by Esther Wilkins, DMD.

She wrote chapter on Medical History for Darby/Walsh’s Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice, 3^rd Ed.

Mrs. Pickett serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice.

Mrs. Pickett serves as a test constructor for the science section of the Dental Hygiene National Board exam, with a 5 year appointment by the American Dental Association.

Honors, Awards

Mrs. Pickett received the Distinguished Alumnus award from the Alumni Association at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1999.  Lamar University awarded her the Regent’s Merit Award for Teaching Excellence 1978.
